We are ready to go!

At least I think we are. I've been packing like mad the past few days: summer clothes, winter clothes, sippy cups, first aid kit, games, electronics, car seats, etc. It's a lot for 5 people. Plus cleaning up the house for our neighbor Mike and dog Indy who will stay here. But I think it is just about done and we will head to the airport in a few hours.

We've been thinking about this trip for ages, so it's crazy that departure is finally here. Also tough to juxtapose our good fortune with the troubles in the world. I had a Syrian student in my lab over the summer, so the problems in that country and with the refugees in Europe are particularly on my mind. We are lucky to have this opportunity...

We will post some pictures from our next stop. Philadelphia Airport! Big thanks to Aunt Sydney for watching the kids for the past few days so I could pack and for traveling to Madrid with us!
